Is your house ready to show?
Clean, Clean, Clean ....(spotless!)
Showing a clean home is one of the most important aspects of home showing. By having a clean home during showings, it
sends the message that you care about where you live and take pride in the ownership of your home. If there any pet odors, smoke odors,
or any other type of offensive odors, do your best to air the place out prior to showing. If the odors are very strong, you may want to
consider painting the walls, or replacing the carpets.
Eliminate Clutter
It's important to show off the size and dimensions of each room. If you have too much clutter, it's hard for perspective buyers
to imagine thier belongings taking up the space. Organize the space as best as possible, and store un-needed items.
Outside Appearance
The outside appearance of your house will also contribute the overall success of selling your house quickly and for a profit. Take
some time to evaluate the outside of your home. Ensure the grass is freshly cut, the landscaping is manicured, and fresh flowers or
shrubs are abundant. The outside of the home is the first thing the potential buyer sees, and why not make it a good first impression?
Neutrality
Remember those walls you painted dark colors? It's alot easier for the potential buyers to imagine making improvements,
or paining walls different colors if the walls are neutral from the start. Think about painting those walls back to neutral colors
if the time and funds are available.
Doing your best
Your goal is to make home buyers fall in love with the house as soon as they see it from the street. And that comes with a bonus--a
great overall impression is often enough to make a buyer more lenient about minor repair issues.
Every house is different, and no one expects you to be a professional home stager--but taking the time to prepare the house to the best
of your ability can put extra dollars in your pocket, and in less than average time.
